Sebastián Keitel Bianchi (Santiago de Chile, 14 de febrero de 1973). Ex deportista olímpico y político independiente. Senador por el Distrito Electoral 10 para el período 2022-2030. Diputado por el Distrito 9 para el período 2018-2022.
Vida profesional
Al terminar el colegio, con el apoyo de su familia, decidió dedicarse al atletismo de manera profesional, destacándose como velocista en las pruebas de 100, 200, 400 metros y relevos 4×4. Entre sus éxitos en su carrera deportiva logró competir y representar a Chile como abanderado en los Juegos Olímpicos de Atlanta (1996), medallista mundial en Barcelona (1995), y medallista en los Juegos Panamericanos (1995, 1999) , Sudamericanos (1993, 1997, 1999), Iberoamericanos (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000) y los Juegos Odesur (1994).
En 1998 marcó 20,15 segundos en los 200 metros planos, lo que lo situó entre los atletas más rápidos del mundo, y ese año ocupó el quinto puesto del ranking mundial en los 200 metros lisos.
Posteriormente realizó diversos cursos entre los que destacan “Entrenador Atlético” certificado por la Asociación Internacional de Federaciones de Atletismo (2004), y el Diplomado “Marketing, Gestión Deportiva y Comunicaciones” (Universidad Gabriela Mistral, 2009).
En 2015 creó junto a sus hermanos la Corporación ELA Chile, orientada a promover la calidad de vida en personas con Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica.
Historia en la política
Realizar talleres deportivos en colegios públicos, dictar charlas desde su experiencia como deportista en escuelas atléticas y promover actividades deportivas y de nutrición, le permitió trabajar directamente en el servicio público, lo que impulsó la decisión de colaborar en el desarrollo del país, iniciando así su carrera política.
En 2017 anunció que competiría por un escaño en el Congreso y registró su candidatura a la Cámara de Diputados. En las elecciones parlamentarias celebradas el 19 de noviembre de 2017 resultó elegido con 30.243 votos.
Durante su período legislativo integró las Comisiones permanentes de Familia y de la Tercera Edad; y Deportes y Recreación.
En agosto de 2021 registró su candidatura al Senado de la República y en noviembre de ese año resultó electo con 64.319 votos.
Como Senador ha sido miembro de las comisiones de Cultura y Deporte; Adulto mayor y Discapacidad, Ética y Régimen Interior. Desde inicios del 2024 es Presidente de la Comisión de Cultura, Patrimonio, Artes, Deportes y Recreación.

Professional life
After finishing school, with the support of his family, he decided to pursue athletics professionally, excelling as a sprinter in the 100, 200, 400 meters and 4×4 relay events. Among his successes in his sports career, he managed to compete and represent Chile as flag bearer at the Atlanta Olympic Games (1996), became a world medalist in Barcelona (1995), and won medals at the Pan American Games (1995, 1999), South American Games (1993, 1997, 1999), Ibero-Americans Games (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000) and the Odesur Games (1994).
In 1998 he recorded a time of 20.15 seconds in the 200 meters, placing him among the fastest athletes in the world, and that year he ranked fifth in the world ranking for the 200 meters.
He subsequently took various courses, including “Athletic Coach” certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (2004), and the Diploma in “Marketing, Sports Management and Communications” (Gabriela Mistral University, 2009).
In 2015, he and his brothers founded the ELA Chile Corporation, aimed at promoting the quality of life for people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Political History
Conducting sports workshops in public schools, giving based on his experience as an athlete in athletic schools, and promoting sports and nutrition activities allowed him to work directly in public service, which motivated his decision to contribute to the country´s development, thus beginning his political career.
In 2017, he announced that he would run for a seat in Congress and registered his candidacy for the Chamber of Deputies. In the parliamentary elections held on November 19, 2017, he was elected with 30,243 votes.
During his legislative term, he was a member of the permanent commissions of Family and Elderly; and Sports and Recreation.
In August 2021, he registered his candidacy for the Senate of the Republic, and in November of that year, he was elected with 64,319 votes.
As Senator, he has been a member of the commissions on Culture and Sports; Elderly and Disability, Ethics, and Internal Regime. Since early 2024, he has been President of the Commission on Culture, Heritage, Arts, Sports and Recreation.
